The 3D 'Peanuts' Teaser Trailer Is Here, and It's Short But Sweet (VIDEO)

peanuts 3d movie teaser trailer

The first look at next year's "Peanuts" is short but sweet. It's just Charlie and his old pal Snoopy and that unforgettable piano theme song that conjures up a near-Pavlovian fuzzy feeling. After years of seeing Charles Schulz's creations in Met Life commercials and TV reruns, it's a welcome return to the big screen.

Although Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang have gotten a 3D makeover, the animation still has the same sort of clean, colorful look as Schulz's beloved comic strips. There are some changes afoot - Charlie's mysterious Little Red-Haired Girl and Snoopy's crush Fifi will have bigger parts in the movie -- but there won't be too many high-tech updates. In his typically droll way, producer Paul Feig has assured us that Charlie et al will be keeping it old-fashioned. "Snoopy will not be rapping, no one will be twerking, we're in good hands," he told USA Today.

Feig's not the only one who's keeping a close eye on Schulz's legacy, Charles' son Craig, who also serves as a producer on the film, added, "I'm way more protective than my father would have been... Our No. 1 goal was always to be authentic to his work and legacy." Craig's son Bryan co-wrote the script with Cornelius Uliano, making "Peanuts" a real family affair.

Let's hope that "Peanuts" turns out better than director Steve Martino's take on "Horton Hears a Who!" Otherwise, Thanksgiving at the Schulz home will be really awkward.

"Peanuts" opens in theaters November 6, 2015.
