Reaction seems to be mixed on the UTD Season 3 and "Extant" Season 2 renewals. From a ratings perspective, "Under the Dome" was expected to return, since it's still a major hit, if a bit down in the ratings from Season 1. (It's also strayed very far from Stephen King's source material, but maybe that's a bonus to viewers?) According to Deadline, UTD2 was still the summer's top scripted series with 11 million viewers a 2.7 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. "Extant," on the other hand, averaged only about 8.64 million viewers with a 1.7 rating, but it has the prestige factor of starring Oscar winner Halle Berry.
Even if ratings/Halle Berry weren't there to justify renewal, there's the special Amazon deal to consider. As TVLine noted, "Helping offset the two series' pricetags, CBS has a deal with Amazon Prime - for a reported $900,000-per-episode, for each show - to be the exclusive home to streamed episodes."
Are you glad to see CBS renew "Under the Dome" and "Extant," or should one or both be put out to pasture? And what about poor "Reckless" -- did you even know that show existed?
