Boba Fett's Origin Story Will Be the Second 'Star Wars' Standalone Movie

Boba FettMay the Fourth ended with the best "Star Wars" news possible - that Boba Fett will, indeed, be the focus of the second "Star Wars" standalone movie.

The Wrap confirms the rumors that the next standalone movie would be the bounty hunter's origin story. That news comes on the heels of director Josh Trank ("Fantastic Four") leaving the project to "pursue some original creative opportunities."

Boba Fett is a longstanding fan favorite, a badass bounty hunter sent by Jabba the Hutt to capture Han Solo in "The Empire Strikes Back." In the prequels, it's revealed Boba is a clone that hunter Jango Fett raised as his son.

But we'll have to wait awhile to get our Boba Fett fix - his standalone movie isn't scheduled to come out until 2018. First, there's "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" this December, then the rebel fighters-focused "Rogue One" in December 2016, and "Episode VIII" in 2017. So, cool your jetpacks for now, Fett fans.
