'The Walking Dead' Fans Get 'Caryl in Season 7' Trending, But Will It Happen?

Twitter trends, like the zombie apocalypse of "The Walking Dead," have no clear origin. Suddenly, something just takes over. Yesterday, for fans around the world, it was "CARYL IN SEASON 7."

The "Caryl" fans -- who want Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) to get together, are a passionate group. Not all fans agree with their cause, but at least they have a cause, and they managed to get it some attention last night. When the ball got rolling, they forwarded their tweets to The Powers That Be, including "Walking Dead" showrunner Scott M. Gimple, and producers Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd.

Here are some of the tweets:

Yeah, some of the tweets are the same fans tweeting multiple times, but that's how you get your 'ship trending. Maximum effort.

At this point, the scripts are done for Season 7, so Caryl is either happening or it isn't. No official teases or interviews have suggested this is the year, but you never know.

Season 7 premieres Sunday, October 23 on AMC, and they are just about at the halfway point of filming for the 16-episode season. They could always tweak a script to add more Caryl scenes, but it's not like The Powers That Be are just now hearing that the Caryl fans want Caryl to happen. This has been known since Season 2. It's possible Caryl fans are pushing harder than ever now that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have gotten show time as Richonne, and that 'ship started after Caryl. But for every Caryl fan there's someone who doesn't want Carol and Daryl to get together. Not that it really matters, 'cause if TWD were fan-driven, we wouldn't have to wait more than six months for the resolution to that Season 6 finale cliffhanger.
