Netflix Lands Ryan Murphy's 'Ratched,' Starring Sarah Paulson

54th Annual International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Awards - BackstageNetflix knows a winning combination. With Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson working on yet another project together, the streaming service decided to get involved.

The drama series, called "Ratched," also drew interest from Apple and Hulu, but Netflix emerged as the winner of the bidding war, Deadline reports. The streamer ordered two seasons of the show, which is based on Ken Kesey's 1962 novel, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Specifically, the series will center on the twisted Nurse Ratched (Paulson) and how she became so horrifying. It will look at her past, starting in 1947.

The project comes from creator Evan Romansky, a recent film school grad. He is set to co-executive produce alongside Murphy and Michael Douglas, as well as Lighthouse Management & Media's Aleen Keshishian, Margaret Riley, and Jacob Epstein. Paulson is producing, as is Paul Zaentz.

We'll see if Murphy and Paulson can work magic together again. Their track record already includes the acclaimed anthologies "American Horror Story" and "American Crime Story," so "Ratched" absolutely seems promising.
