"The Book Thief," starring Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, is a serious movie based on a serious book based on a serious topic.
While subjected to the horrors of WWII Germany, young Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. Under the stairs in her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents.
This behind-the-scenes clip, which is featured on the "The Book Thief" Blu-ray, shows that not everything was dour and intense. In fact, Rush himself, who is sometimes seen as a straight-laced, maudlin actor, seems to be quite the joker, eliciting giggles and laughter on-set.

"The Book Thief" will be available on Blu-ray on March 11, 2014. It is already available for digital HD download.
