In "Divergent," safety isn't so much a concern as an afterthought.
One-hundred years in the future, the government as we know if has been dissolved and the residents of Chicago live in five, heavily regulated factions: Amity, Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, and Candor. Unfortunately for Dauntless wannabe Christina (Zoe Kravitz), that means OSHA no longer exists, making it possible for a narrow, railing-less overpass to become a measure of her worthiness to be in the we-all-have-a-death-wish faction.
In the exclusive clip above, Christina, who's just transferred into Dauntless from Candor, is put to the test by the ruthless Eric (Jai Courtney). Only his form of testing involves pushing you off the side of a narrow walkway and watching you dangle precariously as you hang on for dear life. Homicide and character-building exercises are basically the same thing, so we get it. Also, we hope they still have tetanus shots in the future because she is for sure going to need one -- if she lives, that is.
If you don't know the world of "Divergent" by now, you will. Basically, In a future world people are divided into factions based on personality, a teenager is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, her life is threatened.
"Divergent," which also stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Ashley Judd, and Tony Goldwyn, hits theaters March 21.
