This Crazy-Dangerous Camera Work Really Pays Off (VIDEO)

crazy dangerous camera work

The original "The Raid" was an ultra-violent, super-kinetic attack on your senses. "The Raid 2" takes that flying-fist craziness to the road, adding some wild driving and chase sequences that were shot in death-defying fashion. As the video below explains, the filmmakers wanted the high-energy feel of the movie to be expressed in the frequent, first-person-esque handheld movement of the camera. But how do you do that when the sequence you're trying to film takes place inside and outside of vehicles moving at 50 to 60 miles per hour? Well, you dress one of the cameramen as a car seat, strap yourself to the side of a vehicle, and pray. Hard.

The camera work in question starts at the 8:45 mark.
