ABC is taking the red sharpie to "Revenge."
After four seasons of shocking twists and crazy cliffhangers, the drama will come to an end in the May 10 finale.
"We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story," executive producer Sunil Nayar told Entertainment Weekly. "We've been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale -- which is fabulous -- everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end."
"Revenge" debuted on ABC in 2011 and immediately made a splash, drawing 10 million viewers. But after moving to Sundays, the show began to lose viewers. This past Sunday's episode was watched by just 4.45 million.
It seems appropriate that the soap should end now, since Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) has achieved her revenge against the Graysons and finally outed herself as Amanda Clark. Plus, Madeleine Stowe's character, Victoria Grayson, was recently killed off.
Now all that's left is to resolve Emily's current troubles -- she's in jail after being framed for Victoria's death.
Nayar promised that "Revenge" would go out in pure "Revenge" style: "There are epic emotional moments in the finale," he said. "There are really shocking things that happen in the finale."
