In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jodie Sweetin, who plays middle sister Stephanie Tanner, said that the show has made several ovations to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in an effort to get them to appear. But Sweetin admitted that it doesn't look like those pleas will ever work.
"We've tried everything," the actress told ET. "I think we've kinda given up."
That's not entirely surprising, especially considering that the twins (who famously declared they were done with acting back in 2013) claimed they didn't even know the revival was happening when it was first announced -- an assertion that fellow costar John Stamos called B.S. The show did some creative maneuvering to explain why little sister Michelle was missing, taking inspiration from the Olsens' real-life fashion careers (and throwing in a pointed silence to really drive home their awkward absence). Maybe the sisters just didn't think that over-the-top reaction could be topped?
But don't fret, "Fuller House" fans: According to Sweetin, there will be plenty of other fun cameos waiting for fans during the show's sophomore season.
"A lot of people that have been talked about for like 30 years are going to be on the show," Sweetin told ET of season two. "It's going to be a lot of fun."
