The mysteries of "Sherlock" Season 4 have arrived already.
We're mere months away from the premiere of "Sherlock" Season 4, and BBC One has upped our already high level of anticipation by revealing two of the three episode titles. The new information is enticing because it offers possible hints at which of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories will be explored by Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman). Not surprisingly, we're still being kept mostly in the dark on the issue.
The first episode is called "The Six Thatchers," and fans are already theorizing that it is a reference to "The Six Napoleons," according to Entertainment Weekly. The Conan Doyle story starts out with someone shattering Napoleon busts, but it gets far darker when someone kills and man and takes his bust. It sounds like elements of the original plot could be used, with Margaret Thatcher statues replacing Napoleon ones.
Episode 2 is called "The Dying Detective," which sounds a lot like the "The Lying Detective." The latter is the name of a Conan Doyle adventure that centers on an apparently dying Sherlock Holmes. However, little do others (including Dr. Watson) know, he's really faking it for the sake of solving a case. The change makes for a more dramatic title.
We'll have to wait till "Sherlock" Season 4 premieres in January on PBS to get definitive answers. In the meantime, there's a lot left to wonder about, including the still-unannounced Episode 3 title.
