'Before the Flood' Trailer: Watch Leonardo DiCaprio Try to Save the World

Leonardo DiCaprio has taken Al Gore's inconvenient truth and sprinkled in a bit of Michael Moore's showmanship to create "Before the Flood," a documentary on climate change coming to a theater or TV channel near you in October.

The trailer was just released, featuring DiCaprio in locations around the world, talking to the likes of President Obama, Pope Francis, and Elon Musk in an effort to find solutions. The Oscar-winning actor's voice narrates the trailer, using his star power to call attention to "the most critical and urgent problem facing our world today."

"We've known about this for decades, for over half a century. Try to have a conversation with anyone on climate change, people just tune out. The problem seems to be getting worse and worse and worse. The truth is, the more I've learned about this issue, and everything that contributes to the problem, the more I realize how much I don't know. ... Paradise that has been degraded and destroyed, we're knowingly doing this. I just want to know how far we've gone and if there's anything we can do to stop it."

The U.S. gets called out for being leaders in the problem but not the solution. DiCaprio, who made the doc with actor/director Fisher Stevens, hopes climate change will be a top issue for voters in the 2016 presidential election.

Watch the trailer:
"Before the Flood" heads to in theaters in New York and L.A. starting October 21, then it will air globally on the National Geographic Channel starting October 30.
