On Monday, the "Harry Potter" author answered a number of questions about her new spinoff film series, which kicked off with "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" on Nov. 18. Fans had questions about everything from why the series expanded from three parts to five to whether or not protagonist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) was wearing a Hufflepuff scarf.
*Warning: There may be spoilers ahead.*
Rowling gave lots of interesting answers, including about the trajectory of the series. Apparently, "there's just too much story" for three films because it covers events that took place in the wizarding world between 1926 and 1945.
.@lomadia We did say 3 before I did all the plotting, but then we decided that there's just too much story!

Other tidbits Rowling was willing to share were also compelling. For example, Newt was wearing a Hufflepuff scarf; "Queenie the queen" (Alison Sudol) will come back in the next movie; and we'll learn more about why being expelled from Hogwarts was so different for Newt than it was for Hagrid. Our story starts in 1926 and ends in 1945. It's just too big to fit in one movie! https://t.co/fb5GOGvTxq

Not surprisingly, Rowling couldn't answer all of the questions she was asked; she had to leave some material to be covered in future films, after all.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is now in theaters.I'm being asked so many good questions about story & characters in #FantasticBeasts. If I can't answer, it's bc we have 4 movies to go!
