British detective drama "Broadchurch" is returning for a third and final season, and the first teaser trailer previews the return of David Tennant, Olivia Colman, and other major cast members from the first two seasons.
"We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters," said writer Chris Chibnall. "I hope it's a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me."
The brief teaser doesn't allude to the plot at all, but fans can expect DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller to take on a new case, involving sexual assault, in their close-knit Dorset community. The teaser indicates that grieving Latimer parents Beth (Jodie Whittaker) and Mark (Andrew Buchan) are back, as well as Arthur Darvill's vicar Paul Coates.
"Broadchurch" season 3 is set to air sometime in early 2017 on BBC America.
