Kristen Stewart Recalls 'Obsessed' Donald Trump's Tweets About Her

Press Junket Reception - 2017 Sundance Film FestivalBack in 2012-2013, the current President of the United States was something of a Twihard. Donald Trump tweeted repeatedly about Kristen Stewart's relationship with Robert Pattinson, suggesting Pattinson dump Stewart for cheating on him. Brushing aside the hypocrisy of Trump shaming a public figure for cheating on a significant other, it was weird even then for The Donald to be so invested in the "Twilight" co-stars's "Robsten" love story.

Here are several 2012 tweets from him on the infamous cheating scandal, plus a retweet of a 2013 story when he sent birthday greetings to Stewart through HollywoodLife:

So that was then. Now Trump is POTUS, and on the day of his inauguration, Stewart was at the Sundance Film Festival to promote her new movie, "Come Swim." During a video interview, Variety asked Stewart about Trump, and she recalled those tweets:

"He was mad at me a couple years ago, really obsessed with me a couple years ago, which is f*cking crazy. I can't even understand it. I literally cannot even understand it. It's such far-out concept that I'm like, I don't want to believe that actually is happening. It's insane."

Variety asked how it made her feel to see those tweets.

"At that point, he was just, like, a reality star. I had no reference. It wasn't like really a thing. But in retrospect, somebody reminded me of that and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, you're right!' That was a couple of years ago, but ... Hey buddy, what's up? He's probably going to tweet about this."

It's possible he has moved his obsession to Alec Baldwin, or maybe Meryl Streep.

Stewart said she's not usually the most politically charged person, "but I think at this point, it's not political. It's f*cking so humanitarian." She said she was grateful to be part of the Park City, Utah, march organized during Sundance. "I was really disappointed that I couldn't be in D.C. for the march, and I was like, I'm sure somebody is going to be doing something here and they are and I'm really thankful for that."

This is a pretty big time for Stewart. "Come Swim" is her directorial debut, and she actually co-authored a research paper on the technical process used in the film. She's also set to host "Saturday Night Live" for the first time on February 4. And you know who'll definitely be watching (and probably tweeting) about that!
