After news broke earlier this week that television icon Mary Tyler Moore had passed away at the age of 80, tributes from friends and former costars came pouring in. But one voice was notably absent: Betty White, who starred alongside Moore on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Now, White has finally commented on the loss of her friend, paying tribute to the actress in happier times.
According to The Hollywood Reporter correspondent Ryan Parker, White declined to give any interviews on the day Moore passed, with a rep for the actress telling the trade that White was "very upset" over the news. But White eventually collected her own thoughts, and shared a touching post on Wednesday across her social media platforms.
Mary Tyler Moore, Grant Tinker, Allen Ludden and I had some of the best times of my life together. She was special. http://pic.twitter.com/tLf3oU2wlR

In the post, White made a statement that was short but sweet, memorializing Moore during her TV heyday. White shared a photo depicting Moore and herself alongside their respective then-husbands, Grant Tinker and Allen Ludden, and noted that the friendship the foursome shared produced "some of the best times of my life."
"She was special," White added of Moore.
We couldn't agree more. You'll be missed, Mary.
