Another season of "Survivor" ended last night, and during the "Game Changers" reunion show, Jeff Probst shared details on the fall 2017 Season 35: "Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers." Phew! It's a mouthful.
The theme sounded familiar to some fans, who brought up the white collar/blue collar/no collar theme of Season 30, "Worlds Apart." Others were confused about the "hustlers" part. Apparently it was supposed to be a compliment -- they're all meant to be positive traits -- but several people heard hustler as con artist as opposed to someone who hustles, with one example on that tribe being a personal assistant. And aren't healers also heroes, and wouldn't some of the heroes also be healers?
Host/producer Jeff Probst talked to Entertainment Weekly about the theme for Season 35:
"Survivor is a game about social politics so we continue to look for new ways to divide people based on human behavior. This season is unique in that they are divided based on how they are perceived by others. Heroes are used to being heralded, healers receive gratitude, and hustlers earn respect. The question this season is, how do those imposed labels impact how they see themselves and how will they play Survivor?"
Here are some mixed reactions to the theme:
Who is the Slippin Jimmy on the Hustlers team. They have my vote #Survivor #BCS

I don't think "Hustlers" is quite the right word for that - what about just "Hard-Workers"? #Survivor #SurvivorFinale

Because when I think of a hustler I think of hustlers I think "personal assistant" #survivorfinale #Survivor

Heroes, Healers, Hustlers: the distinction will be lost on day one. Jeff Probst will force that narrative the next 38. #Survivor

I thought we couldn't get cheesier... then we got S35 heroes, healers, and hustlers #Survivor

Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers - this name is a big ol' eye roll. @JeffProbst @survivorcbs #Survivor

Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers?????? That may be a bit of a stretch... #Survivor

I really like the idea behind #Survivor 's next season, but the name just doesn't roll off the tongue. Hustlers, Healers, Heroes...? Yikes!

I don't get the whole heros vs healers thing. A healer can be considered a hero. Nurses, doctors, etc. #survivor #herosvshealersvshustlers

#Survivor Next season sounds fun. Most people play hard when u tack on a title to them, like whn the Heroes lost to themselves in HvVillains

@DaltonRoss Good hook, glad it's an all-new cast.

@DaltonRoss Can't wait for Villains v. Veterinarians v. Videographers

Is a prostitute considered a healer or a hustler? #Survivor
— Keith Dixon (@KeithLDixon) May 21, 2017
@DaltonRoss I thought "hustler" was going to mean con artists, not people who work hard!

@CliffordMyers Really? What a dumb name for a season. I understand heroes vs hustlers(aka villains) but what the hell's a healer? Lol #survivor #fail

Like one fan wrote, the tribe distinctions will probably be lost after the first day anyway, when we just get to know the players as individuals, but Probst will probably try to force the theme all season.
"Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers" will premiere this fall on CBS.
