It's going to be a while before fans get to see the final six episodes of HBO series "Game of Thrones," but one former star is promising that season eight will be worth the agonizing wait.
Jason Momoa, who played Dothraki king Drogo on season one of the hit fantasy show, chatted with Entertainment Weekly about a recent visit he paid to the "Thrones" set in Belfast, Ireland, where he was catching up with his pals in the cast and crew. According to the actor, his visit inadvertently revealed some spoilers about how the series wraps, and though he's disappointed he won't be surprised by certain developments, he teased that audiences should be thrilled by what's ahead.
"Just knowing how amazing this season is going to be -- it's going to be the greatest thing that's ever aired on TV," Momoa told EW. "It's going to be unbelievable. It's going to f— up a lot of people."
The actor also addressed the rumors that pop up seemingly every time he appears in an Instagram photo with his pal and former love interest, Emilia Clarke, suggesting he's somehow set to reprise his role as Drogo. That's not in the cards, according to Momoa.
"I just showed up to see [producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I just happened to see people on set," the actor told EW. "I haven't been over there in a long time. You just want to see your friends and you end up make headlines going, 'Drogo's back!' and I'm like, 'He's dead! He can't come back, it wouldn't work.'"
This could very well be some elaborate misdirection (see: the unsurprising Jon Snow surprise revival) on Momoa's part, though with the recent Jon-Dany romance development, it would certainly be an awkward time for Drogo to return. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
There's no premiere date yet for "Game of Thrones" season eight, though it's likely to debut sometime in 2019. Stay tuned.
