Once a boss, always a boss.
In the trailer for "The Boss," Melissa McCarthy falls hard from her position of power and wealth, but isn't about to give up the fight to kick some business butt. She plays Michelle Darnell, the "wealthiest woman in America" - until she's busted for insider trading. After serving time in prison, she has nowhere to go except to crash with her former assistant (Kristen Bell).
Michelle's business instincts are still sharp, though, and she soon uses them to start up a rival Girl Scouts-like organization to sell brownies.
"The Boss" was co-written by McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone, who also directed. It looks and feels a lot like their previous collaboration, "Tammy." There are a lot of funny moments in the trailer, and McCarthy looks to be at the top of her game here - aggressive, ruthless, smart, but also weirdly naive. Bell seems to play well off of her, and it's nice that the movie is so focused on women and girls.
"The Boss" opens in theaters April 8, 2016.
