Ben Affleck Will Direct, Star in 'Witness for the Prosecution' Remake

An Alternative View Of The "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" New York PremiereBen Affleck has found his next directing project.

Variety reports the star will direct and star in a remake of "Witness For the Prosecution." Billy Wilder first adapted the Agatha Christie story in a 1957 film starring Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich, and Charles Laughton. The movie received six Academy Award nominations

Affleck will also produce the remake, along with BFF Matt Damon, Jennifer Todd and the Agatha Christie estate. Christopher Keyser ("Party of Five," "Tyrant") will write the script.

The movie centers on the trial of a man accused of murdering a wealthy widow who named him as her sole heir just before her death. When man's wife testifies against him for the prosecution, the trial takes a shocking turn. It's unclear if Affleck will play the accused murderer or his lawyer.

The star recently wrapped on directing the Prohibition drama "Live By Night" and is set to direct and star in a standalone Batman movie.
