"Roadies" was Crowe's first foray into television, and J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holzman (the creator of "My So-Called Life") served as fellow executive producers. The show followed the behind-the-scenes crew on a tour of a fictional rock band. Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, and Imogen Poots starred as the three main roadies.
The season ended Aug. 28 with 500,000 viewers (including three days post-broadcast). That's in line with the rest of the season's ratings — but however loyal the viewers, there just weren't enough of them.
As Crowe wrote on his blog, "Though we could tell a thousand more stories, this run ends with a complete 10-hour tale of music and love. Like a song that slips under your skin, or a lyric that keeps speaking to you, we hope the spell of 'Roadies' lingers. It was life-changing experience for all of us."
