Here Are the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards Movie Nominations

la la land, ryan gosling, emma stone, critics' choice awards"La La Land" is having a good week: After scooping up the best film prize from the New York Film Critics Circle, the musical has also landed a whopping 12 nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association, which hands out the Critics' Choice Awards, released its nomination slate hailing the best films of 2016, and like the NYFCC, it also shared the love among a large number of movies -- many of them from wildly different genres. While other recently-hailed critical favorites like "Moonlight" (which came in second to "La La Land" with 10 Critics' Choice nominations) were well-represented, recognition was also given to flicks like "Deadpool," "Jason Bourne," "Captain America: Civil War," "Suicide Squad," and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

According to Variety, the genre categories (comedy, action, and sci-fi/horror), which were added several years ago, are intended to amp up the awards' star power. With actors like Matt Damon, Dwayne Johnson, Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansson, and Margot Robbie all represented this year, it certainly appears that that aim has been met.

The full list of nominations for the Critics' Choice Awards movie categories is below. (The television nominees were announced last month.) The awards will be handed out during a televised ceremony on December 11.
