Julia Roberts is trying something a little different: headlining a TV series.
The Academy Award-winning actress has boarded the limited series "Today Will Be Different," reports Variety. Based on Maria Semple's best-selling novel of the same name, the TV adaptation will be written by the author herself. In it, Roberts will play the protagonist, Eleanor Flood, a woman who attempts to spend a day knocking items off her "to do" list, only to face unexpected obstacles.
As you'd imagine, Semple is thrilled that Roberts signed on. She described her reaction as "giddy" and predicted "a fun ride." Roberts' duties also include executive producing through her banner Red Om Films, alongside Semple and Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle.
The series has yet to be nabbed by a network, but according to Variety sources, it will be shopped around early next year. Given that Roberts found the project tempting enough to dive into TV, we don't think they'll have trouble drumming up interest.
