TV reunions and revivals are all the rage: Is "How I Met Your Mother" next?
20th Century Fox TV Dana Walden said yesterday said she'd love to see the hit CBS series, which ended in 2014, make a comeback, Deadline reports.
During Fox's upfront press call on Monday, Walden said, "I hope we will have an opportunity to revisit these characters and tell these stories if [the cast and writers] have the desire to do it. It's a beloved show that still continues to be popular all over the world."
That's a pretty big if since lead Josh Radnor is now starring on the NBC drama "Rise;" and Neil Patrick Harris is busy with Netflix series "A Series of Unfortunate Events;" as is Cobie Smulders, who also has Netflix's "Friends From College" and returns as agent Maria Hill in "Avengers: Infinity War."
There was talk of a spinoff called "How I Met Your Father. It which would have been told from a woman's point of view and feature brand-new characters. "This Is Us" co-executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger wrote a spec script, but when they were promoted to co-showrunners on "This is Us," the project was shelved.
If "How I Met Your Mother" does come back, it had better not be as gut-wrenching as that knife-in-the-heart finale.
