An Emmy-nominated actress is joining "This Is Us" Season 2 -- but she'll be behind the camera instead of in front of it.
Regina King has signed on to direct an episode of the hit NBC series, Variety reports. She is set to helm the sixth episode of the show's sophomore season and will begin filming next week.
The actress-slash-director has been doing more work from behind the camera since her 2013 TV directorial debut with "Southland," a series in which she starred. She has since added to her resume, directing episodes of "Scandal," "The Catch" "Animal Kingdom," and more. It's safe to say that she knows drama and is well-suited for the "This Is Us" job.
King has most recently starred in ABC's "American Crime" and HBO's "The Leftovers," and she'll next appear in the upcoming Netflix series "Seven Seconds." We don't know how she does it all.
"This Is Us" Season 2 premieres Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
