Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Alcon Entertainment issued the following statement today: "In light of the tragic events of last night, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures and Alcon Entertainment are cancelling the red carpet for tomorrow's screening of 'Blade Runner 2049.' We join the rest of the country in sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy."
There will still be a screening for filmmakers, cast and invited guests, according to Deadline, but there's no official word if the planned after party is also canceled. The premiere was to be held tonight at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. followed by a party behind the El Capitan Theatre across the street. The movie opens this Friday, October 6.
Warner Bros. earlier announced they were also canceling the red carpet premiere of the Thurgood Marshall biopic, "Marshall." That screening will go on as well, just sans the glitz and media coverage of a usual Hollywood premiere.
Several shows in Las Vegas have been canceled, including tonight's Penn and Teller performance, according to ET. There's no word yet if acts set to perform later this week, such as Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and John Fogerty will also cancel, pet ET.
