The role formerly known as Miss (or Mr.) Golden Globe has a new name, new responsibilities, and a new honoree.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association made the announcement on Wednesday, honoring Simone Garcia Johnson as its Golden Globe Ambassador. Her selection makes sense, as the role is traditionally awarded to the children of leaders in Hollywood; Johnson's parents are Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks Productions Chairwoman Dany Garcia.
"We could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything the HFPA stands for," Meher Tatner, the association's president, said in a statement.

The HFPA also explained more of what the role will entail for Johnson, including a partnership with GlobalGirl Media, which works to empower women from disadvantaged areas on their path to becoming journalists.
"As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA's philanthropic efforts year-round," Tatna said.
Johnson shared how eager she is to "serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about." She also highlighted how she has grown up with strong role models in her parents.
Needless to say, her dad was extremely happy for her. Johnson called himself a "very proud papa bear" on Twitter after the announcement was made.
