He's baaaaack! The first trailer for the new "Halloween" is finally here and Michael Myers returns, knife in hand, ready to terrorize us all.
The movie is a direct sequel to the 1978 classic John Carpenter film (ignoring all the other films in the franchise). Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, who's still bearing the physical and emotional scars of the first movie.
Her worst nightmare comes true when Michael Myers (played by Nick Castle, also from the original movie) breaks out of the asylum. And now, he's not just going after Laurie, but also her daughter (Judy Greer) and granddaughter (Andi Matichak).
The trailer seems to indicate this sequel's tone is very much old-school "Halloween" — just straight-up psychopath on a murder spree.
As Curtis told Entertainment Weekly, "The vibe here is the same as vibe as 40 years ago. [Director] David Gordon Green and [cowriters] Danny McBride and [Jeff Fradley] and their cameraman and their sound mixer are all best friends. Everyone who's come here has come here to honor Halloween 1978. The prop master, Mick Flowers, did 'The Revenant.' He did the f—ing 'Revenant'! Do you know what I'm saying?""Halloween" opens October 19.
