Just a few weeks before filming starts on the fifth "Terminator" film, "Terminator: Genesis," the series' original star, Arnold Schwarzenegger is speaking out about the movie for the first time, telling fan site TheArnoldFans.com that he's happy to be re-joining the franchise.
At the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio this weekend -- yes, Schwarzenegger has his own annual athletic festival -- the site caught up with the actor, and asked him to discuss "Genesis." Schwarzenegger happily obliged, revealing that the shoot was expected to last between four and four-and-a-half months and would take place primarily in New Orleans, with some filming set for San Francisco and possibly Los Angeles.
"I'm really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn't be in that movie but now I'm back again and they are very excited about having me in the film," Schwarzenegger told TheArnoldFans, adding that he was also excited to be part of the series once again. " ... The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to this film."
As for what that script entails, Moviehole has a rather extensive -- and spoiler-filled -- breakdown of what can be expected in "Genesis," including several not-previously-announced returning characters from earlier "Terminator" films. Read that one at your own risk.
What's been publicly and officially disclosed so far about "Genesis" is that it involves a time-traveling Terminator who protects Sarah and John Connor throughout several different decades. Directed by Alan Taylor ("Thor: The Dark World"), it stars Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney.
"Terminator: Genesis" hits theaters July 1, 2015.
