Hot mama! Meg Ryan is joining the cast of "How I Met Your Dad," the spinoff pilot of "How I Met Your Mother," which recently ended its nine-year run on CBS.
Deadline reports that the onetime queen of romantic comedies has been tapped as the voice of "Future Sally," who will narrate the series just as Bob Saget did for "HIMYM."
Ryan will recount the adventures and exploits of her younger days; present-day Sally will be played by indie movie actress Greta Gerwig (who also will produce and write). And, like Saget, Ryan will likely never be seen on the show.
Since her heyday in the '90s, Ryan's presence in Hollywood has steadily diminished. As a recent People article suggested, the actress decided to step away from the spotlight to focus on her family.
But she's making a comeback of sorts in a reunion with frequent co-star Tom Hanks -- behind the screen. He will produce, while she directs and stars in the World War II drama "Ithaca." It marks her feature film directorial debut.
