Thomas' WCKD Past Is Revealed in This Exclusive 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' Clip

The upcoming sequel to "The Maze Runner," "The Scorch Trials," picks up with Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), and the rest of their group as they take on WCKD, and escape from its clutches into the titular unknown entity.

And as we see in the clip below, premiering today exclusively on Moviefone, the Scorch is filled with plenty of unsavory characters of its own.

The clip introduces us to Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito), the leader of the Cranks, a rough and tumble group of resistance fighters who also, coincidentally, want to take down WCKD.

As Thomas and Jorge get acquainted, they both hold each other at arm's length, suspicious of the other's motivation; Jorge grills Thomas about his group's origins and its mission, but Thomas isn't biting -- until he's tackled and scanned, and it's revealed he's come from WCKD.

"You're very, very valuable," Jorge tells Thomas, though of course, the reason for that has yet to be revealed.

Moviegoers will find the answer when "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" hits theaters on September 18.
