Even Ellen DeGeneres got in on the act, joining the many famous and not famous names to lash out:
Thanks #Emmys. I had DVRed all of those shows.

Hey #Emmys, we aren't all @AndySamberg! Not everyone can lock themselves in a bunker and watch ALL the shows. #spoilers

The #Emmys spoiled the endings to basically every show this year... http://pic.twitter.com/LQkaPhb5eg

They showed major spoilers for all of the shows that ended this past season... #Emmys http://pic.twitter.com/zTVs69QKQK

Thank you #Emmys for just ruining half of the series finale endings of shows still unwatched on my DVR.
- Mick Lee (@micklee) September 21, 2015
Kind of astounding that given the new business model of TV, #Emmys would run a spoiler-a-bration. Ok now I won't binge order [Fill in blank]

To be fair, there were also tribute defenders who argued that it's not a "spoiler" once the series has already aired. As they noted, most of the TV shows in the clips have been over for months now, and you have to expect a show honoring TV series to show clips from those series.
Where do you stand on it? Did the Emmys make a boo boo for spoiling series that many viewers had yet to watch or was the burden on the audience to prepare for footage from shows they may not have seen?
