"AHS," which is currently airing its fifth iteration, "Hotel," will return for another season sometime in 2016. The show has typically premiered around Halloween, though nothing is set in stone for season six just yet.
FX Networks CEO John Landgraf released the following statement announcing the news:
That high praise from network brass is certainly deserved, at least from a ratings standpoint, with the series doing gangbusters numbers for FX (including marking the network's highest-rated episode ever, with its season four "Freak Show" premiere). New addition Lady Gaga has also added lots of buzz to "Hotel," and may be back for season six, if her touring schedule can accommodate shooting. With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television's landmark series. From 'Murder House' to 'Hotel,' 'AHS' has pioneered a new television form, as well as becoming FX's highest-rated show, while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity.
This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.
"American Horror Story" is set to conclude its "Hotel" run in December.
