"Pretty Woman." "Notting Hill." These are the types of movies and roles in which audiences are used to seeing Julia Roberts.
But for her new thriller, "Secret In Their Eyes," the Oscar-winner steps outside her comfort zone (and her fans') playing a mother on a FBI task force that's sent to a homicide, only to discover that the victim is her daughter. It's arguably the most emotionally raw performance of Roberts' career, and she recently sat down with Moviefone to discuss the challenges she faced bringing such a vulnerable character to the screen.
"Secret" hits theaters Nov. 20.
