Miguel Ferrer's Death: Cousin George Clooney Issues Heartfelt Statement

An Evening To Remember Rosemary ClooneyMiguel Ferrer, star of "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "Twin Peaks," died Thursday morning at 61 after battling throat cancer.

The news is sad for fans, but it's all the more heartbreaking for his friends and family, including his cousin and former co-star George Clooney. The actor spoke out about his family's loss later in the day, issuing a touching statement.

"Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family," Clooney said, according to People. "Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will."

Ferrer left his mark on a number of popular film and TV projects over the years. In addition to "NCIS: LA" and "Twin Peaks," he starred in the film "Robocop," voiced the villain in "Mulan," and starred in "Crossing Jordan." He'll also be seen in the upcoming "Twin Peaks" revival, which is slated to premiere in May.

Beyond acting, Ferrer was a father of two. He reportedly died at home with friends and family around him.
