"Fast and Furious" star Vin Diesel is developing a reboot of iconic '80s cop series "Miami Vice." (But will it have the same catchy theme song? And flamingos?)
TheWrap reports that NBC is teaming up with Diesel to revive the stylish show created by Michael Mann. Peter Macmanus (who also wrote the new series "The Mist") is working on the script.
The original pastel-riffic series, which debuted in 1984, starred Don Johnson as Sonny Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as his partner, Rico Tubbs. It ran for five seasons.
The series featured memorable guest turns from future stars including Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, and Liam Neeson, as well as appearances by musicians including Phil Collins, Glenny Frey, Frank Zappa, Ted Nugent and Leonard Cohen.
In 2006, Mann directed Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx starred in a disappointing, best-forgotten big-screen remake.
