If you build it ... they will come to ruin it.
The Iowa site where "Field of Dreams" was shot was wrecked by vandals yesterday. The owner, Denise Stillman, told the Dubuque Telegraph Herald that someone drove a vehicle through the iconic baseball diamond and outfield, leaving deep gashes and breaking the sprinkler system. All told, the damages could cost thousands of dollars to repair.
The 1989 film starring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones filmed in Dyersville, Iowa. Afterward, the field stayed open and draws some 100,000 tourists every year.
Stillman has set up a GoFundMe page to raise $15,000 to fix the field before opening day, April 1. They hope to install a security system to prevent similar incidents in the future.
"A lot of people travel (from) all over the world to come see the Field of Dreams, and they don't always check Facebook to make sure we are open," Stillman said. "We'll just have to keep operating as is."from Moviefone News RSS Feed - Moviefone.com http://ift.tt/2E8yPwM
