The promotional campaign for "Deadpool 2" has been all about making references to (or many cases, making fun of) various pop culture properties -- just look at the film's latest (and allegedly last) trailer for proof. Now, yet another photo has been released from the flick, and it should come as no surprise that it, too, has the fingerprints of another movie all over it.
The image, debuted by Entertainment Weekly, is a direct reference to beloved '80s flick "Say Anything...," and the specific moment in which lovelorn Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) holds up a boom box outside the window of Diane Court (Ione Skye) in the hopes of winning her back. This time around, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is standing in for Lloyd, and he's trying to convince Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) to join his new gang, the X-Force.
According to Reynolds, audiences should expect many more moments like this in the sequel.
"There are a lot of different nods to films that we all loved growing up," the actor told EW.
"Deadpool 2" also stars Zazie Beetz (you can see her in the above image, hanging out in the cab while Deadpool tries to woo Colossus), Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, and T.J. Miller. It opens on May 18.
