Melissa McCarthy's spy comedy has a new name and a new, unlikely costar.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. rapper 50 Cent, will join "Spy," once known as "Susan Cooper." McCarthy plays Cooper, the titular CIA analyst who heads out into the field for the first time.
It's unclear how Jackson will factor into the plot of the film, but THR reports that the rapper-actor will play himself. According to THR, he joins "Jude Law as a suave super-spy and Jason Statham as an overconfident yet clumsy spy," as well as McCarthy's "Bridesmaids" costar Rose Byrne, British comedienne Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale, and Nia Long.
"Spy" is written and directed by "Bridesmaids" helmer Paul Feig, who last directed McCarthy in last year's buddy cop comedy "The Heat." Production is expected to get underway this month in Budapest.
