Holly Hunter ("The Piano"), Callan Mulvey ("300: Rise of an Empire"), and Tao Okamoto ("The Wolverine") have joined the cast, according to an announcement from studio Warner Bros. They join fellow new cast members Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Gal Gadot. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne are all reprising their "Man of Steel" roles.
But unlike those actors, the parts being played by Hunter, Mulvey, and Okamoto are so far unknown. Deadline reports that they'll portray new characters who were created specifically for the "Man of Steel" sequel, which was written by David S. Goyer. No further information about the roles is available just yet.
Hunter's casting in particular adds some heft to the follow-up flick's pedigree. Director Zack Snyder is no doubt hoping that securing so many accomplished actors will help wrangle what are sure to be numerous storylines into a cohesive whole.
"Batman vs. Superman" hits theaters May 6, 2016.
