'Black Mirror' Renewed For Season 5 By Netflix

"Black Mirror" will be back to fuel your technology nightmares. Netflix has renewed the sci-fi anthology series for a fifth season.

The streaming service announced the news with a short teaser, featuring screens with past "Black Mirror" episodes playing on them. And at the end, it simply reads, "Be Right Back" — a reference to the Season 2 episode starring Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson.

"Black Mirror" originally aired on the U.K.'s Channel 4 for the first two seasons and then moved to Netflix for Seasons 3 and 4. With that transition, each season contained more episodes (six total). And creator Charlie Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones have taken the series to new creative territory. They reaped the rewards of that with Emmy wins for the acclaimed episode "San Junipero," which had the first happy ending.

Season 4, which debuted in December, continued pushing the envelope with the space drama "USS Callister" and the black and white "Metalhead."

"You don't want to hit the same bell again, even though it's tempting. We have to be unpredictable with the show," Brooker told the Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix did not reveal a release date for Season 5, but it likely won't be until late 2019 or even early 2020.
