Brad Kern has been demoted to "consultant" on "NCIS: New Orleans" with executive producer Chris Silber stepping in as the new showrunner.
Salon first posted the news of Kern's departure, which comes several months after Variety's lengthy report on the allegations against him.
Kern took over as showrunner at the start of 2016 in the middle of the show's second season. Within a year, Variety reported, two separate human resources investigations were launched into his behavior. Allegations include sexual harassment, discrimination against women (especially working mothers), and offensive racial comments against African-Americans.
"We were aware of these allegations when they took place in 2016, and took them very seriously. Both complaints were acted upon immediately with investigations and subsequent disciplinary action. While we were not able to corroborate all of the allegations, we took this action to address behavior and management style, and have received no further complaints since this was implemented."
The people who spoke to Variety said Kern just doubled down on his antics and made jokes about H.R. being after him. "He would brag about his bad behavior," one woman told them. "It just got worse and worse, and the network stood by him every step of the way."

Several sources said that at many different times, he spoke approvingly of casting a well-known actress in a role on the show because an important CBS executive "wanted to f—k her." Kern allegedly engineered the exit of Zoe McLellan, an original cast member who did not return for the third season, because, in his view, men didn't find her "f—kable," multiple sources tell Variety."
Similar behavior reportedly extended back to his time as showrunner of "Charmed," with sources telling Variety that Kern called a female executive "Tits McGee" and told women writers that writing in the nude would improve their work. One former male colleague called him "a creeper" and another said he was "a predator." He also reportedly mocked "Charmed" actress and producer Alyssa Milano when an illness caused her to gain some weight.
But apparently Kern hasn't been fired from "NCIS: NOLA," he's still on the books as a consultant.
"NCIS: New Orleans" Season 4 just ended its 24 episodes on May 15. Season 5 will premiere on CBS this fall.
