"American Idol" said farewell just under a year ago, but talk of a reboot has already been swirling.
With NBC reportedly interested in continuing the reality singing competition show now that Fox has retired it, former "Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez had to answer questions about its possible return during the NBCU Summer Press Day on Monday. She was there to talk about her new show, "World of Dance," but the "American Idol" curiosity still popped up.
Unfortunately, when Lopez was asked if executive producing and judging NBC's "World of Dance" would keep her from returning as an "Idol" judge, she didn't have much information to share.
"I haven't heard anything about that," she said, according to Deadline. "I know nothing about that."
It's not exactly a promising answer, but it isn't necessarily bad news for fans of the long-running singing series, either. NBC may be working on the reboot -- with Lopez even -- but just not ready to let the cat out of the bag. Don't count an NBC "American Idol" reboot out yet.
