Kevin Smith had a heart attack after his first stand-up show on Sunday. He knew something was wrong and canceled his second show. And it's a good thing he did.
The 47-year-old "Clerks" director and "Comic Book Men" star was meant to tape two stand-up shows at the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA He managed to tape the 6 p.m. but canceled the 9 p.m. show.
Smith tweeted a selfie from his hospital bed and updated fans on the situation:
After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka "the Widow-Maker"). If I hadn't canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight. But for now, I'm still above ground! pic.twitter.com/M5gSnW9E5h

I met Kevin Smith at Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2016.

I asked him "I'm an aspiring filmmaker, so do you have any advice?".
And he said "Don't aspire, man. Just do".
And that's what I've been doing since. He's an absolute legend and hope he gets better soon.
Keep Kevin Smith in your thoughts and Prayers. He suffered a massive heart attack. Let's send him all the Positive Vibes in the multiverse!! pic.twitter.com/vvAAuNFRau

Anything called a "Widow-Maker" is no joke (especially, you have to assume, to his wife).
Smith's "Comic Book Men" just aired an episode last night and continues late night Sundays on AMC.
