All five of this year's nominees for Best Original Song will be performed live on this year's Oscars, the Academy announced today.
Mary J. Blige, the first person to be nominated for acting and composing in the same year, will be performing her song "Mighty River," which she co-wrote with Raphael Saadiq and Taura Stinson. The song is from "Mudbound," the film that also earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination.
Common will duet with Grammy-nominated Andra Day on "Stand Up For Something" from "Marshall." He (and John Legend) previously won an Oscar in 2014 for "Glory" from the film "Selma." His writing partner on "Stand Up for Something" is nine-time Oscar nominee Diane Warren, who was last nominated for "Til It Happens to You" with Lady Gaga.
Gael GarcĂa Bernal, Grammy nominee Natalia LaFourcade, and Grammy winner Miguel will perform "Remember Me" from the Disney hit "Coco." It was written by Robert Lopez (who already has an EGOT) and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
Tony nominee Keala Settle will sing "This is Me" from "The Greatest Showman." The song was written by Tony- and Oscar-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
And from "Call Me By Your Name," Sufjan Stevens will sing "Mystery of Love," which he wrote for the film. (Sadly, no one will likely be dancing to "Love My Way" onstage. Unless it's host Jimmy Kimmel.)
Oscars producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd announced, "We're excited to have these talented artists showcase the powerful contribution music makes to filmmaking."
The 90th Academy Awards air live on ABC on March 4.
