"No rules, no speed limits, just pure fun!" Johnny Knoxville declares about his theme park in the first trailer for his new comedy "Action Point."
"That sounds kind of dangerous," someone replies. But that's the point of "Action Point"!
The movie essentially takes Knoxville's "Jackass" antics and puts them into a theme park setting. He plays the owner of a low-rent amusement park who decides to turn the dial up 11 in order to compete with a bigger high-end park nearby. That means faster rides, more fire, more animals (including a very sharp porcupine), and seemingly unlimited alcohol. It's a recipe for lots of painful fun.
Like "Jackass," the cast actually performs the stunts seen on screen. But now, there's a storyline layered on top of the hijinks.
The movie is loosely based on a real New Jersey place called Action Park, which was shut down after multiple died over the years.
"Action Point" opens in theaters June 1.
