They broke her! DAMMIT.
"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is a gem, but its upcoming fourth season will be its last.
Deadline first posted the news, which was later echoed by The Hollywood Reporter. It sounds like there are "talks" of a wrap-up movie after the series ends.
Netflix is streaming Season 4 in two parts, with Part 1's six episodes streaming May 30, and the remaining seven episodes streaming later. They've only filmed half the season at this point, so co-creator Tina Fey could launch "Mean Girls" on Broadway.
Why is the show ending now? Here's the word from Deadline:
"But after four seasons and over 50 episodes, word is that everyone felt it was time to end the series. In addition to her busy career in TV and film, Fey recently ventured into theater with the Mean Girls musical landing 12 Tony nominations earlier this week."
Fans are definitely going to miss Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) and the gang, especially Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), bus also Jacqueline White (Jane Krakowski), Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane), and the supporting cast.
To promote "Part 1," Netflix shared some first-look photos and a "Little Girl, Big City" promo:"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" Season 4, Part 1 arrives May 30 on Netflix.
