'Call Me By Your Name' Is Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Top Film of 2017

Another organization has announced its slate of the best films of 2017, with the Los Angeles Film Critics Association releasing its selections over the weekend. And leading the pack as LAFCA's best picture of the year is a flick that's been hearing its name called a lot so far this awards season: "Call Me By Your Name."

In addition to claiming the critics' group's top prize, "Call Me" also nabbed the award for best actor, which went to its young breakout star, Timothée Chalamet. It seems that Chalamet should also get used to hearing his name a lot in the run-up to the Oscars.

What makes LAFCA's annual awards announcement so interesting is that it's one of only a few organizations which also reveals the runners-up for its prizes. Those selections, in addition to the outright winners, reveal an especially eclectic slate of films that the group says it's proud to recognize.

"I am so pleased to be honoring such a wide breadth of films and filmmakers this year," said LAFCA president Claudia Puig in a statement. "The winners come from several countries around the world and reflect a diversity that should be the norm during the awards season. We're so excited to celebrate this year's extraordinary group of winners."

The full list of honorees is below. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association will present its awards during a ceremony on January 13, 2018.
