Photos from new CW series "Black Lightning," the first series about an African-American superhero from the network, have fans amped up.
Cress Williams stars as Jefferson Pierce, a high school principal whose secret identity is Black Lightning. He'd retired the super hero gig years before, but now a new threat from a gang called The One Hundred forces him to don the suit once again. The show premieres Tuesday, January 16.
Nafessa Williams and China Anne McClain play his daughters and Christine Adams co-stars as their mother. The cast includes Marvin "Krondon" Jones III and James Remar.
The series is from the married writing-and-directing team Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, who previously worked on "Girlfriends," "The Game," and "Being Mary Jane."
Photos from the first episode show Williams on the job as Jefferson Pierce and Nafessa Williams as his daughter, Anissa, teaching a class.
