The chilling murder of Sharon Tate is coming to screen, and Hilary Duff is going to star as the late actress.
Duff will play the title character in "The Haunting of Sharon Tate," Deadline reports. The psychological horror film will center on Tate as she nears the end of her life. In 1969, at age 26, she was brutally murdered by a group of Charles Manson's followers -- a terrifying death she had somewhat predicted. Tate had reportedly experienced nightmares and premonitions before the fateful night.
At the time of her death, Tate was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child. Her husband, Roman Polanski, was away in London, and Tate was killed alongside four of her friends. Her ex-boyfriend, Jay Sebring, was among them, and he'll be played by Jonathan Bennett ("Mean Girls"). It'll be a change to see stars from some of our favorite teen movies in such a dark film, but we're open to it.
"The Haunting of Sharon Tate" is written by Daniel Farrands, who is also set to direct. The film does not yet have a release date.
